Mandela Day; Inspiring Change in our own little way

Mandela Day; Inspiring Change in our own little way

“It is in your hands now…” words said by Nelson Mandela in 2008 urging the next generation to take on the burden of leadership; servant leadership to be specific.

One year later, the UN General Assembly launched Nelson Mandela International Day to be celebrated on his birthday, July 18. Mandela Day urges all of us to inspire change.

On July 18 2016, the team decided to impact the community. We spent the afternoon in the local community engaging with residents and handing out groceries.

IMAG1778We met mothers who have no income, disadvantaged children facing unspeakable hardships every other day. We listened to their heart-wrenching stories on survival and encouraged them not to loose hope and to keep striving for a better life.

IMAG1773At the end of it all, we left there inspired by their stories and felt some sense of satisfaction having impacted their lives in our own little way.
